Types of Hyperhidrosis

Not all excessive sweating can be treated the same. When defining what triggers the excessive sweating you come across two types of hyperhidrosis, each one with its own particularities:

 

- Idiopathic or Primary Hiperhidrosis
- Secondary Hyperhidrosis

 

Primary Hiperhidrosis


Idiopathic or Primary Hyperhidrosis is the type of hyperhidrosis without any known cause. It has its beginning in early childhood, and becomes worse as years pass, becoming very bad during adolescence. Idiopathic Hyperhidrosis is the most common one type of hyperhidrosis, and it locates in specific areas of the body:

 

• Hands
• Armpits
• Scalp
• Face
• Feet

Due to its unknown cause and nature, it is a very embarrassing problem. And affects a person’s social life and personal development.

 

Secondary Hyperhidrosis


This type of hyperhidrosis appears with an underlying condition, and it is not located in specific areas, but on the entire body. The conditions that triggers excessive sweating can be:

 

• Endocrine Disorders
• Endocrine Treatments for malignant disease
• Menopause
• Obesity
• Psychiatric disorders
• Systemic malignant diseases
